Didn't Make Excuses, Denton Makes it Happen!

UPDATE : Hike Across America

Businessman, Speaker, Marine Shane Johnson shared his mission and inspired homeless veterans at the 3rd Annual Denton County Homeless Veteran Stand Down and Resource Fair, Denton, TX.

To veterans, stand downs were usually two or three-day "time-out" periods when soldiers came off the battlefield and into a safe place. The same stand down experience veterans had in Vietnam is being recreated today across the country for veterans who need to come in from the trenches of the homeless battlefield. The hope is that while participating in a stand down, the veterans will get help to come in from the streets permanently.

Veterans who attended the stand down were be able to obtain hygiene kits, winter clothing, socks, boots, sleeping bags, toiletries, haircuts and information about benefits, housing and medical/mental health care.

Hike Across America partner Clean The World supplied hygiene kits that were handed out to homeless veterans.

Clean the World has a two-part mission:
Collect and recycle soap and hygiene products discarded every day by the hospitality industry and other sectors that generate environmental waste.

Through the distribution of these and other donated products to impoverished people, prevent millions of hygiene-related deaths each year, reduce the morbidity rate for hygiene-related illnesses, and encourage vigorous childhood development.

Shane Johnson and the Booyah Veteran Bus Project Team appreciates Frenchy's Lawn & Tree in Denton, Texas for their support and great patriotism!

Shane Johnson's Hike Across America will stop in Las Vegas to help celebrate Veterans Day!

UPDATE: HIKE ACROSS AMERICA
by Ray Tharaldson VP Booyah Productions
On Nov. 11, the country will pause to honor the men and women of the nation’s armed services who daily serve and defend our country.

This Veterans Day, Caesars Entertainment and its Las Vegas hotels will sponsor this event and will honor those U.S. servicemen and women with specials and discounts, support the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade and continue to focus on a corporate-wide veteran hiring initiative.

The Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade is the second largest parade in the nation, second only to New York.

Businessman, Speaker, Marine Shane Johnson will hike into Las Vegas on Nov. 10th 2017 to attend and participate in the Las Vegas Veterans Day activities. Shane will hike in the Veterans Day Parade and also will be the key note speaker for various Caesars Entertainment events.

Shane Johnson is running 22 miles a day across America from Orlando to Camp Pendelton, CA to raise awareness for Veteran suicides and homelessness. The hike will take 65 days and cross 9 states. Shane will be speaking at homeless shelters in 20 cities as he journeys across America. Clean The World has partnered with Shane to supply 10,000 hygiene kits that Shane will hand out along his hike from Orlando to Camp Pendelton, CA. To prepare for the hike Shane trained with 1984-86 World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Pinklon Thomas.

Associated Press award winning photojournalist Raymond Tharaldson VP / Booyah Productions is producing the documentary "3,000 Miles For Your Why" about Shane's journey from homelessness to multi-million dollar business owner.  Ray has worked at WSBT-CBS, WSJV-Fox 28, WNIT PBS & freelanced for CBN.

Businessman, Speaker & Marine Shane Johnson is the owner of Booyah Mortgage, Booyah Productions, Yellow bird Consulting and founder of Booyah Veteran Bus Project. Shane has been featured on USA Today, Fox News, IHeart Radio and numerous newspapers, magazines and local TV stations.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, there are 39,471 homeless veterans in the U.S. on any given night.

Johnson says along with helping shelter veterans, his focus is on helping to prevent them from becoming homeless in the first place. The Veteran Bus Project gives entrepreneurship programs for veterans.

"We're all one crisis away from being homeless,” Johnson said.

"Our Mission is to create mobile shower buses, transit services, and transitional facilities for Veterans-in an effort to prevent Veteran homelessness."  ~ Shane Johnson

“The important thing is to give," he said, "You'll get a lot more back if you do that."
The key, he said, is to “band together.”

“To take a veteran and put them in a facility is to provide them cover… but that doesn’t stop what’s on the inside,” Johnson said. “We’re missing the key ingredient of that, which is giving them (veterans) that comradery.”

Caesars Entertainment will host Shane at a 350 hygiene kit building event organized by Clean The World

Clean the World is the largest global recycler of hotel soaps & bottled amenities. Clean the World aims to prevent both waste & hygiene-related illnesses.

This years Las Vegas Veteran's Day Parade includes all the schools with ROTC units, congressionally recognized organizations, civic and commercial enities. Veterans' organizations from surrounding states (California, Arizona and Utah) have regularly participated in the Las Vegas Veteran's Day Parade.

The Veterans Action group manages this parade. The Veterans Action Group does not claim salary or expenses, so all donation go towards the production and administration of the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade.

Year-round, Caesars Entertainment offers veterans and active-duty military discounts at all of its Las Vegas properties, including a 10 percent discount on hotel rooms. For Veterans Day, active and retired military who verify their identity through ID.me and visit Caesars.com during the dates of Nov. 11-13 can book a future stay for a 15 percent total discount. This is just one of several military discounts being offered.

You can also show your support for veterans and active duty military personnel at the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade. With more than 30,000 attendees, the parade is the largest west of the Mississippi. The Parade begins at 10 a.m. on 4th Street between Gass and Ogden Avenues in downtown Las Vegas. It runs past the southeastern end of the Fremont Street Experience near Neonopolis.

The Air Force is sending a fighter jet to fly over the parade route for the first time since 2012, when automatic budget cuts kicked in under the so-called sequester law.

The jet of choice is an F-35 Lightning II, the nation’s newest stealth joint strike fighter, from Nellis Air Force Base.

“It’s going to be over the top,” parade chairman and Navy veteran Bill Stojack said Wednesday. “For the first time since sequestration we have a confirmed flyover. We’re really excited.”

He said an F-35 is expected to roar over Fourth Street in downtown Las Vegas at 10:11 a.m. Friday, just as the first of 120 entries including floats, bands, color guards and military vehicles begin to roll north of Charleston Boulevard between Hoover and Stewart avenues.

Caesars Entertainment and its Las Vegas hotels are a Platinum sponsor of and participant in the parade. Soldiers and military vehicles will accompany Caesars Entertainment’s civilian float, alongside veteran employees and supporters.

Bally’s Las Vegas continues its tradition of hosting several veterans who were wounded during their service. The hotel will provide them with Vegas VIP treatment including providing hotel accommodations, care packages, complimentary meals and transportation to the parade.

Caesars offers a wide list of dining, show, hotel and shopping discounts for active and retired military. Some are offered just on Veterans Day. Others are offered year-round. For all of these discounts, you will need to show a Veteran Identification Card (VIC ID), Disabled American Veterans ID (DAV ID) or Common Access Card (CAC) to verify your military service. For online hotel bookings, you can verify your military service using ID.me.

Veterans who shop at Caesars Entertainment-owned retail stores inside its Las Vegas hotels will receive 25 percent off on Veterans Day. This does not include stores in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Miracle Mile Shops or Grand Bazaar Shops.

Caesars Entertainment continues to honor veterans’ honor, courage, loyalty, leadership, accountability, drive and dedication with a corporate-wide hiring initiative program. Launched in 2013, Caesars Enlisting Heroes program focuses on helping veterans find jobs across Caesars Entertainment’s family of companies. More than 2,000 veterans have been hired at Caesars companies and more than 80 events have been held geared toward veterans.

“We are grateful to those who serve our country and take great pride in the programs we have developed over the years to help support veterans,” said Mark P. Frissora, president and chief executive officer of Caesars Entertainment.

“Our initiatives to hire and train veterans have been extremely successful for our company, and we are proud to extend and celebrate these efforts again this year in recognition of Veterans Day.”
